About me

I’m Sharon McLaughlin, certified coach, human resources and change management professional, and founder of Change Clarity™.

After more than 30 years in the municipal public sector, including senior leadership roles in human resources, payroll, pensions, benefits, and finance, I now help professionals, leaders, and growing businesses make sense of change and lead with clarity.

My work is rooted in one belief: meaningful change begins within.

I blend proven frameworks - including Emotional Intelligence, Gallup CliftonStrengths, and the Intentional Change Theory - with my training in human resources and my real-world leadership experience to create practical, personalized support for growth.

If you’re looking for a grounded, strengths-based approach to navigating change — in your career, leadership, or business - you’re in the right place.

Let’s connect if you’re ready to ignite transformation - personally or professionally.

My Journey

For most of my career, I worked inside a large, complex organization - supporting leaders, teams, and employees through constant change.

I spent over 30 years in HR and senior leadership roles, where I saw firsthand what change can do: it can energize people and unlock growth… or it can create stress, uncertainty, and a sense of being “stuck” if the right support isn’t in place.

Over time, I became known as the person people called when things were shifting - new leadership, new structures, new priorities, new ways of working. I helped guide teams through transitions, built people-centered strategies, and supported leaders who were trying to do the right thing while navigating competing demands.

But alongside that work, I noticed something else.

Even high-performing professionals - smart, capable, deeply committed people - were quietly asking the same questions:

  • What do I really want now?

  • Why doesn’t this fit like it used to?

  • How do I lead others through change when I’m still finding my own footing?

That’s where my passion for coaching began. I became certified as a professional coach and change management practitioner, and launched Change Clarity™ to support leaders who are ready to move through change - in their organizations and in themselves.

My work brings together two things most consultants keep separate:

  • Coaching that helps leaders reconnect with what matters, build confidence, and move forward with intention — both personally and as a leader of others

  • Change expertise that helps organizations make sense of uncertainty, build alignment, and create a clear, sustainable path forward — without losing sight of the human experience behind every change

Whether you’re navigating a career transition, stepping into leadership, or simply feeling the pull toward something different, my goal is to help you find clarity - and take your next step with calm, confidence, and purpose.

What I Believe

People do their best work when they feel clear about where they’re going, supported in how they get there, and equipped to bring others along with them.

That belief has shaped everything I’ve done - from leading HR transformation for 18,000 employees to sitting across from a leader who just needs someone to help them think.

The work is different at every level. The need is the same: clarity, confidence, and a way forward that actually fits.

If any of this resonates - whether you’re leading a change initiative or navigating one of your own - I’d love to connect.

A discovery call is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation about where you are and whether working together makes sense.

Outside of my work, I love simple things that help me feel grounded and recharged. You’ll often find me walking in nature, enjoying country living, and spending quality time with husband and two adult children, friends and my doodle dog, Charlie.

I’m also an avid reader and I make space for wellness through walking, yoga (and a little friendly competition on the pickleball court). I truly appreciate all seasons – even winter - but I’ll happily trade my boots for bare feet when there’s a beach nearby.

Make space in your life for the things that matter!
