About me
I’m Sharon McLaughlin, certified coach, human resources and change management professional, and founder of Change Clarity.
After more than 30 years in the municipal public sector, including senior leadership roles in human resources, payroll, pensions, benefits, and finance, I now help professionals, leaders, and growing businesses make sense of change and lead with clarity.
My work is rooted in one belief: meaningful change begins within.
I blend proven frameworks - including Emotional Intelligence, Gallup CliftonStrengths, and the Intentional Change Theory - with my training in human resources and my real-world leadership experience to create practical, personalized support for growth.
If you’re looking for a grounded, strengths-based approach to navigating change — in your career, leadership, or business - you’re in the right place.
Let’s connect if you’re ready to ignite transformation - personally or professionally.
I’m a people-centered HR leader, certified coach, and Change Management Professional with over 30 years of experience leading teams and large-scale transformations.
My Journey
For most of my career, I worked inside a large, complex organization - supporting leaders, teams, and employees through constant change.
I spent over 30 years in HR and senior leadership roles, where I saw firsthand what change can do: it can energize people and unlock growth… or it can create stress, uncertainty, and a sense of being “stuck” if the right support isn’t in place.
Over time, I became known as the person people called when things were shifting - new leadership, new structures, new priorities, new ways of working. I helped guide teams through transitions, built people-centered strategies, and supported leaders who were trying to do the right thing while navigating competing demands.
But alongside that work, I noticed something else.
Even high-performing professionals - smart, capable, deeply committed people - were quietly asking the same questions:
What do I really want now?
Why doesn’t this fit like it used to?
How do I move forward without burning out or starting over?
That’s where my passion for coaching began. I became certified as a professional coach and change management practitioner, and eventually launched Change Clarity to support individuals and leaders who are ready for meaningful change - without the overwhelm.
Today, I bring together two worlds:
Coaching that helps you reconnect with what matters, build confidence, and move forward with intention
Change expertise that helps you make sense of uncertainty and create a clear, sustainable path ahead
Whether you’re navigating a career transition, stepping into leadership, or simply feeling the pull toward something different, my goal is to help you find clarity - and take your next step with calm, confidence, and purpose.
Change Clarity
My philosophy is simple: people do their best work when they feel seen, supported, and aligned with purpose. I’ve built a career on turning that belief into action empowering teams, shaping strategy, and helping individuals grow as leaders.
I volunteer as President of the ACMP Ontario Chapter, where I support the advancement of the change management profession. I also contribute to the broader professional community through ongoing learning, mentorship, and speaking engagements on people-centered transformation, coaching, and career development.

Outside of my work, I love simple things that help me feel grounded and recharged. You’ll often find me walking in nature, enjoying country living, and spending quality time with family, friends and my doodle dog, Charlie.
I’m also an avid reader and I make space for wellness through walking, yoga (and a little friendly competition on the pickleball court). I truly appreciate all seasons – even winter - but I’ll happily trade my boots for bare feet when there’s a beach nearby.
Make space in your life for the things that matter!
